Privacy Policy

Legal notice: This document is a practical draft for the marketing site. Have qualified counsel review before you rely on it in contracts, App Store review, or disputes. If your jurisdiction requires naming a registered business or legal entity, add that name where "the operator of CineShare" appears, per your lawyer's advice.

Who we are: The party that operates the CineShare™ service and https://cineshare.net ("we," "us," "our").
Service: CineShare™ and related websites at https://cineshare.net (the "Service").

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the Service. By using the Service, you agree to this policy and our Terms of Service where applicable.

1. Scope

This policy applies to:

• The CineShare mobile app for iOS and iPadOS; and
• Our website and web pages we operate at https://cineshare.net (e.g. marketing, help, subscription management links we provide).

It does not apply to third-party services, cinemas, or film databases that you open from the app (their policies govern those services).

2. Information we collect

2.1 Account and authentication

• Sign in with Apple — identifiers and tokens that Apple provides, as described in Apple's notices when you sign in.
• Email and password (if used) — email address and credentials through our authentication provider.

2.2 Profile and social features

Display name, username, avatar, bio; friends, followers, friend requests, and online status (per your settings); community posts, comments, likes; reviews and ratings; messages and interactions, subject to in-app tools (e.g. block/report).

2.3 Movie activity and preferences

Watchlists, lists, ratings, notes, "currently watching," import history where used, taste/discovery signals (e.g. Taste Match, mood, filters), achievements, trivia activity, in-app analytics, and exports where available.

2.4 Location and cinema features

If you allow it, we may collect approximate or precise location to find nearby cinemas and showtimes. You can change this in device settings.

2.5 Device, diagnostics, and security

Device and app information (e.g. app version, device type, OS, crash or performance logs) to operate, secure, and improve the Service, and to detect abuse.

2.6 Communications

Content of support requests and survey responses, and related metadata.

2.7 Payments (Pro subscription)

Payments for CineShare Pro are processed by Apple via in-app purchase. We do not receive your full card number. We may receive subscription status and transaction identifiers from Apple and from subscription management tools. Apple's privacy policy applies to payment processing on Apple's systems.

2.8 Third-party film and cinema data

We use partners to show movie information and, where available, cinema showtimes, formats, and booking links. Those partners may process queries (e.g. titles, search terms, location) as needed. We credit The Movie Database (TMDB) and MovieGlu (or successors) in the product where required.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive categories beyond what you voluntarily add to profile or posts. Please avoid posting health, financial, or other highly sensitive data in public areas of the Service.

3. How we use information

We use information to: provide and personalise the Service; operate social and safety features; show trailers, posters, and metadata; offer cinema search and showtimes; operate subscriptions and tier limits; communicate service notices; analyse usage in aggregate; and comply with law, enforce our terms, and protect users.

We may use service providers (hosting, authentication, database, subscription management, crash reporting, email) under appropriate agreements.

4. How we share information

• With other users per your visibility settings.
• With vendors that help run the Service.
• With data partners (e.g. TMDB, MovieGlu) as needed.
• For legal reasons when we good-faith believe disclosure is required.
• In a business change (e.g. merger, sale), subject to this policy and applicable law.

We do not sell your personal information for money. The Free and Pro experiences are ad-free.

5. Your choices and rights

You may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or object to certain processing, depending on your location. You can adjust in-app privacy settings, use account tools, request account deletion where offered, and control notifications and location in iOS settings.

To exercise rights or ask questions, contact support@cineshare.net. We may need to verify your identity. A lawyer can add exact wording for the UK/EEA, U.S. state laws, or the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) if required.

California residents: You may request the categories of personal information we collect. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are commonly used for the Service described here; contact support@cineshare.net for requests.

6. Retention

We keep information as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Some information may remain in backups for a limited period. We may retain aggregated or de-identified data without identifying you.

7. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organisational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact support@cineshare.net.

9. International transfers

We may process and store information in Australia and other countries where we or our providers operate. We use appropriate safeguards where required (e.g. standard contractual clauses) — your counsel can specify the exact mechanism.

10. Third-party links and embedded content

The Service may link to third parties (e.g. booking sites, trailers, TMDB). Their privacy practices are not controlled by us.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on https://cineshare.net and update the "Last updated" date. We may provide additional notice of material changes where required by law.
